New Technology And Its Role In Online MBA Programs
2011-01-07
Today's online MBA program provides business students with real world business skills from all of the new technology brought to bear through internet communications and information marketing principles. Whether one looks at life through the lens of academic achievement or from the lens of professional development; business students can expect to have a well rounded education when they decide to enroll in an online MBA program.
New technology allows an online MBA student to learn from an expanded foundation of sources, which is no longer limited to the textbook, the professor and faculty at the university where the student attends. Information technology allows for students to take advantage of the real world advice of entrepreneurs who are in the process of building, as well as archived multimedia of business people who have already attained success. Students are also afforded the opportunity to interact with professionals who are in the midst of real time decision making; where they can easily see the results of their decisions.
In addition to being able to learn from an expanded number of information sources, today's online MBA student has the chance to learn from an expanded pool of their peers also. In other words, today's programs have nontraditional adult students in them, many of whom are already attaining success in their profession or business. Students are not limited to having students in their class that live in their geographical area. They are typically working with students from all over the world.
Learning from this expanded pool of students also takes other shapes as well. With the online MBA program, a student can learn from peers who are at different points in their careers; moreover, they can learn from students in different industries also. New technology in the classroom allows for demonstration and discussion from varying points of view. All of this, of course, gives the student a deeper understanding of business theory and a more practical understanding of its application.
This aspect of application goes even farther with MBA students. The explosion of information marketing means that an increasing number of students in the classroom are using technology and business principles to market an already existing enterprise. These students are literally taking the theories from their textbooks and discussions and applying them right away into their own enterprise.
They are also bringing back their experiences to their peers providing for a dynamic learning environment. The online MBA program that today's business students are participating in does not lend itself to the student waiting to be taught. It lends itself to students who want to use new technology to participate in the learning process, which produces well rounded decision makers.
