New Business That Are Looking For MBA Graduates

2011-01-10

In spite of what is viewed as a challenging economy, MBA graduates face a relatively bright future in terms of the opportunities available to them. While those opportunities, in great measure will not look like opportunities that previous generations of MBAs have seen, they will be plenteous. That is why MBAs online have a distinct advantage in today's marketplace because they will be able to chart their progress in real world business and technology while they learn. They will then be able to adjust to the needs to the market.

Does that market seem to give any indication today of what it might need? Indeed it does, but the nature of business and work has shifted, as America has shifted from the Industrial Age to the Information Age. This means then that the way that a business creates leverage is through the use of information. That does not mean that economies of scale are no longer valid, it just means that they no longer create leverage for a business in the marketplace.

What this means for business is that they need MBA graduates who can manipulate information technology in such a way as to provide more value to clients, more efficiency to the operations, more reach in communications and more products and services to market. As the world begins to value information more in their everyday lives, MBAs online will need to take the lessons that they are learning and apply them liberally toward these issues. This will mean that businesses will be looking for students who not only know theory but for those students who can apply theory quickly in a way to add value to their client base.

To add this kind of value, MBA graduates will need to be able to operate in a world that no longer fits a 9 AM to 5 PM context. Their clients, their prospective customers, their suppliers, their partners and even their associates are very likely to be in a different time zone in various places around the world. To complete a project, they may have to communicate at what may be traditionally be their 'bedtime' or their 'dinnertime'. They will need to manage this process if they are going to contribute positively to businesses.

MBAs online will be well prepared because the nature of their coursework and their classmates will be such that neither will fit neatly into the 9 AM to 5 PM industrial age context. They will often communicate live with classmates from other parts of the world at "odd hours" to complete their academic work. This will make them well prepared MBA graduates, as they look to leave their program and subsequently enter industry.
